As child growing up, we recited the Pledge of Allegiance every morning to start the school day:
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
Here is a collection of vintage buttons put together by one of my favorite designers/authors, Amy Barickman of The Vintage Workshop

Hi Mary Ellen.
I got your letter today! I'm so touched by your encouraging words, the cute card and the seeds! I allways thought marigolds were Calendula, but this looks to me like Tagetes. I like those flowers so much! I will have them in my vegetable garden next year.
Thank you!
Yes, these are Tagetes - I originally planted them probably 7 years ago when we lived on a farm. I have saved them from year to year, and the current "generation" are growing right now in front of my studio cottage. Enjoy them!
